There are many roles and responsibilities when it comes to being a caregiver that extend beyond performing daily tasks.
When we are looking for someone to be a caregiver, we are not just looking for someone to fill a role, we are looking for the type of person who is compassionate, empathetic, and cares about the people who they are caring for.
Anybody can wash a dish or cook a meal, but can you do it with a smile and can you do it with for the person who needs it rather than for yourself? We want people who want to be good caregivers, not just someone who needs a job.
When we age or become unable to care for ourselves, it is hard to let go of that independence. That is why it is essential to have someone there for us who knows how to handle those situations and how to properly provide care for our patients.
